Gravestone Photographs Resource: send a message to someone who requested a photo

Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Lauderdale Ramsay with the following comment:

G'day to you all: Having read the paragraph below, I can only express my dismay that so many people are so cavalier about the voluntary work that you're doing. I hope very much that nobody will ever have cause to include me among them. Certainly, I'm most grateful that people like you exist, and hope that, even if never rewarded with money, you are the beneficiary of numerous random acts of kindness. As you might have guessed from the above request, I'm a direct descendant of Lauderdale Ramsay's parents, Alexander and Elizabeth BURNETT. Burnett you ask? Yes, Alexander RAMSAY was born Alexander BURNETT and only assumed the surname of RAMSAY in 1806 after he inherited the Ramsay baronetcy through his mother. FYI, it was the BURNETT family who built Crathes Castle among other great estates. These days, I'm an avid genealogist, and am using Ancestry.com to compile my family tree. I reckon that I spend at least a couple of hours each eveningusually with a good redbeavering away at it. It's fascinating and a lot of fun. At last count, it included more than 14,000 namestogether with thousands of photographs and storiesso is already comprehensive. Happily, like you, I am more a giver than a taker these days, so well understand the heartache that you feel when people are less than grateful for what you give them. In the context of the work that you're doing at GPR, I for one would not object to being charged a modest fee for each photograph you provide. I live in Adelaide, Australia so, compared with the cost of getting into a steel tube, flying for 23 hours, hiring a chariot and driving up to Scotland, and then doing the whole journey again in reverse, a few dollars would not be unreasonable. Even when I was in Scotland two years ago, I quickly discovered that there are severe limits to how much family research one can do in just a week while still seeking to do all the other touristy things that visitors like to do.Now that I have discovered your site, I will eagerly explore it for more pictures of graves of my ancestors. Presumably, if yours is a work in progress, I would be wise to keep re-visiting it. Thank you for having taken the trouble to help so many strangers like me. Very much appreciated. With best wishes,Alan Ramsay.P.O. Box 408,Unley, SA 5061AUSTRALIA
